Lights of the Dark

High above the land; I stand before the day, Soon to be the night. Watching its eyes slowly fade away, A silent flame creeps across the skies. Time rolls slow to an end, As a tear to its own, Sounding its drop; An echo to shatter the heavens. Heavy; I am fallen, Followed by the glint of my broken guard. He trails close, Our speed unmatched but all is still. I close to the sky yet closer to the earth, The earth I now touch; Bathed in light though i am not. The light fades; joined by the stars again.
